AIG Mexico Controller in United States

Corporate Controller

Core Purpose of the Role:

Oversee and manage the Controllership functions, including but not limited to the period end close, Balance Sheet and Intercompany reconciliations, Statutory Reporting, as well as internal and external audits coordination. Support to the local CFO and the Regional Controller in having a general oversight for the legal entities in Mexico ensuring all key financial deliverables are completed and submitted timely. Coordinate the Shared Service Center activities as well as ensuring that the business knowledge is maintained and appropriately reflected in key financial deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Controllership Area activities as well as responsible for supervising and guiding the Shared Services activities.

  • Grant the follow of the accounting standards, procedures, and policies in accordance with the Corporate and Local Regulatory policies and laws.

  • Plan and coordinate and review the month end and quarter end activities.

  • Perform analytical reviews to the Financials.

  • Responsible to attend the external audits.

  • Coordinate the activities for the SSC and provide guidance and approvals as required.

  • Ensure timely and complete compliance to local statutory.

  • Responsible for responding any requirements coming from governmental agencies, financial institutions, and industry associations.

  • Ensure an effective internal control environment in Coordination with Internal Control and Internal Audit.

  • Collaborate with the Management of cash flow and local treasury activities.

  • Work with the CFO in preparing key deliverables for the Business and for the External Stakeholders as required.

  • Manages and develops the Team for Controllership.

  • Responsible for Controllership project management.

  • Establishment of SMART goals as well as support the team’s goals achievements.

  • Be a Business Partner.

  • Be a team member for Tax, Compliance and all the Support Function Areas of the Organization.

Key Capabilities:

  • Analytical background with strategic thinking capabilities and attention to detail

  • Solid understanding of accounting, treasury, internal controls, financial systems and processes

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management both verbally and in writing

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment

  • Ability to multi-task, consistently meeting deadlines on multiple projects and activities

  • Work effectively in a team environment and in building collaborative relationships with peers and with other stakeholders

*People Managerial skills

*Proficiency in English is required

Key Experience:

  • 8-10 years relevant post qualification experience

  • Proven experience as Controller.

Education

  • University Degree with Accounting major or equivalent
