Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities A The Evidence-Based Psychotherapy (EBP) Program Coordinator is an advanced practice licensed professional mental health counselor whose function is facilitating the delivery and implementation of EBPs within the Montana Veterans Affairs (VA) Mental Health (MH) System. The EBP Program Coordinator works in conjunction with the national VA EBP team to inform MH clinicians about EBP training offerings, to recommend selected trainees for EBP training in coordination with the VISN MH lead and track completion of EBP trainings. Duties and skills needed to be successful in this position include, but are not limited to: Incumbent will serve as the Local Evidence-Based Psychotherapy (EBP) Program Coordinator. As the EBP Program Coordinator, the incumbent provides leadership to all mental health clinicians about EBPs such as: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for depression and/or anxiety and Social Skills Training (SST) for serious mental illness. In addition, incumbent serves in an administrative role by functioning independently and reporting to a manager within Mental Health Service, the VISN Mental Health Lead, and the VA Central Office. Incumbent has administrative responsibility for development of the EBP Program and is accountable for EBP program effectiveness. The incumbent has specific responsibilities in reporting that includes delivering information and resources to staff, referral sources, identifying potential obstacles to the delivery of EBP, and developing and ensuring that procedures are in place to support implementation, coordinating the recruitment and training of staff and monitoring the utilization and delivery of EBP. Incumbent will participate in a national network of EBP Program Coordinators and serving as a local liaison to VA OMHSP for EBPs. Develops and implements methods of measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in specialty areas, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services. Incumbent is able to demonstrate the ability to design changes based on empirical findings. Offers specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role modeling effective social work practice skills. Demonstrates the ability to teach and mentor staff and students in the special area of practice and to provide supervision for licensure or specialty certifications. Incumbent performs specialized treatment of complex or physical mental illness. Incumbent incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Education: Hold a master's or doctoral degree in: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; or a related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Examples of related mental health counseling fields include, but are not limited to Addiction Counseling; Community Counseling; Gerontology Counseling; Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling. NOTE: Traditional Rehabilitation counseling programs that are accredited by CACREP do not meet the LPMHC qualification standards as Traditional Rehabilitation counseling differs from Clinical Rehabilitation counseling. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to LPMHC positions in the GS-0183 series in VHA must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, which includes diagnosis and treatment. NOTE: It is VHA policy that a LPMHC who does not yet have a license that allows independent practice must be supervised by a licensed independent practitioner of the same discipline who is a VA staff member and who has access to the electronic health record. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: GS-12 Experience, Education, and Licensure: In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must have at least one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must have been in a major specialty treatment program area such as, but not limited to, Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), mental health intensive case management (MHICM), or other areas of equivalent scope and complexity. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to meeting the KSAs for the GS-11 grade level, the candidate must demonstrate all of the KSAs below: In depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies procedures and or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to make key decisions in the hiring and identification of top candidates. Ability to provide leadership in facilitating the process of coordinating program consults, assessments, admissions, care assignments and discharges. Ability to provide subject matter consultation to other colleagues and trainees within the field of counseling working on an interdisciplinary team.
