Overview

The IT Business Analyst–Senior supports projects from project kick off to close using business analysis, project management and system development life cycle (SDLC) concepts and methodologies. The IT Business Analyst–Senior’s primary responsibility is to elicit, manage, document, and prioritize detailed functional and non-functional business requirements using business analysis techniques and competencies. The individual is responsible for knowing the organizational goals and priorities, understanding how those goals and priorities connect to their assigned projects and to communicate the requirements to business and IT stakeholders to ensure solutions align to those goals. The IT Business Analyst-Senior acts as a liaison between IT and various cross-functional stakeholders, will interface with and influence senior levels of Independent Health, internal and external customers and will mentor, plan, and coordinate the work of other business analysts as required.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Four (4) years of business analyst experience required. Health Information Technology experience preferred.

  • Expert knowledge and proven application of business analysis methodologies and disciplines.

  • Proven ability to support projects using Project Management and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts and methodologies.

  • Experience working with an IT department providing either analysis, project management or programming services preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated meeting facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience querying and analyzing health insurance and clinical data

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to collaborate and negotiate with all levels of the organization

  • Self-starter with a proven ability to deliver results with minimal assistance.

  • Proficient with the following tools: Microsoft Excel, Word, Azure Dev Ops (TFS), PowerPoint, SQL and Visio

  • Proven examples of displaying the IH values: Passionate, Caring, Respectful, Trustworthy, Collaborative and Accountable.

Essential Accountabilities

Requirements Analysis and Management

  • Plan appropriate business analysis approach

  • Ensure appropriate stakeholders are involved in elicitation activities

  • Accurately capture information provided in elicitation sessions

  • Ensure requirements comply with and uphold regulatory and organizational rules and standards

  • Ensure requirements support the delivery of business value, fulfills project goals and objectives, and meet the stakeholders need

  • Validate requirements with business and IT stakeholders

  • Create a shared understanding of the requirements and desired outcomes across cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Facilitate peer review of requirements documentation

  • Develop and document requirements utilizing the organizations requirement document management tools

  • Successfully obtain the required requirement approvals

  • Effectively manage changes to requirements

  • Respond to changing organizational priorities

Customer Support

  • Liaison between IT and the business community

  • Advocate for the customer

  • Support corporate strategic initiatives

  • Leverage knowledge of the services IT provides the business and apply the knowledge to navigate customer requests through the right channels within IT

  • Promote and direct process improvement activities

  • Provide end user notification of observed problems and issues

  • Facilitate meetings within and between the business community and IT staff

  • Proactively recommend and influences process, design, and product improvements

  • Provide support of quality assurance and user acceptance testing cycles

  • Act as a contributor to project intake process and vendor selection process

  • Support project discovery efforts to identify scope and effort for implementation

Project Support

  • Provide support to project managers, business stakeholders and development resources

  • Address requirement and business questions and provide problem solving support

  • Support project managers with project activities and meeting facilitation between business community and IT development staff

  • Use project management methodologies and disciplines in support of smaller, low complexity projects

  • Provide ongoing performance measurements and metrics

  • Participate in peer reviews in support of other business analysts

Professional Development

  • Participate in training opportunities offered by the organization including management and leadership courses

  • Participate in job specific seminars/conferences/certifications and training

  • Act as a role model and mentor for other business analysts and stakeholders

Hiring Compensation Range: $85,000 - $105,000 annually

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
