Responsibilities You will identify existing or potential risk and protective factors that could lead to problematic/destructive behaviors and recommend preventive measures that the installation, command, or unit can take to address risk and protective factors. You will develop population-based and/or targeted prevention efforts to support the unique needs of the installation, command, and/or unit level. You will assist with program evaluation using analytical techniques and statistical methods to determine program impacts on critical readiness outcomes. You will serve as an installation-based Integrated Prevention Coordinator and is a recognized authority in implementing prevention efforts. You will give routine presentations to leadership on command prevention efforts and impact. You will develop and implement strategies to maintain program visibility and increase awareness at all levels to foster workforce readiness and wellness. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position listed under Education, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying prevention methods and techniques in order to evaluate, consult, coordinate, and advise on prevention program activities towards the prevention of destructive or problematic behaviors (i.e. suicide, sexual harassment/assault, substance misuse, family/interpersonal/workplace violence); 2) Applying program management methods and techniques, and knowledge of command prevention programs, principles, practices, policies, laws, regulations, and methodologies to coordinate and advise on prevention program activities; AND 3) Applying professional verbal communication methods and techniques to collaborate with external and internal personnel and leadership at various echelons to effectively coordinate prevention program activities, and to clearly advise, influence, advocate, and inform on prevention programs. **NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education or qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Substitution of education for experience: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position OR Successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree. Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 10% of the time away from normal duty station with overseas locations possibly requiring more. Work is primarily performed in a well-lit, ventilated, and heated office/classroom environment. Occasionally, work is performed in shipboard or waterfront environments which requires the incumbent to comply with safety standards for the specific work environment, including wearing safety equipment, safety shoes, hardhat, eye and hearing protection, etc. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. Several vacancies may be filled.
