Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts Information Technology Specialist (Senior AI Full-Stack Engineer) in United States

Summary This position is located in the Department of Technology Services (DTS), Technology Solutions Office (TSO). The incumbent possesses the technology knowledge and skills to ensure the delivery of business value-added solutions to the judiciary and assist the judiciary with the adoption of these emerging technologies. Responsibilities The Technology Solutions Office (TSO), headed by the Chief Technology Officer, under the Department of Technology Services, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join TSO's Emerging Technology Division. The AI SME will play a critical role in leading the analysis, research, and potential prototyping of AI-driven policies, guidelines, practices, and solutions that align with the judiciary's business strategy and goals. The incumbent is expected to have a deep understanding of AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and data analytics, as well as experience in applying these technologies in real-world scenarios. The incumbent is expected to accomplish any of the following duties, but duties are not limited to: Strategic Planning: Contributing to the development of the AI governance framework, aligning it with business objectives, industry trends, and best practices. Identifying business-focused use cases for leveraging AI to improve business operations, customer experiences, and decision-making processes. Staying current with advancements in AI and related technologies, identifying potential applications and risks for the organization. Technical Leadership: Providing expert guidance on the design, development, and deployment of AI models and algorithms. Playing a lead role on an AI focused team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Evaluating and recommending AI tools, platforms, and frameworks that align with the organization's technical needs. Consultation & Support: Serving as the primary point of contact for AI-related inquiries and provide expert advice to stakeholders. Conducting workshops and delivering presentations to educate teams on AI concepts and best practices. Ensuring compliance with ethical standards, data privacy regulations, and industry best practices in AI deployment. Research & Development: Conducting research to innovate and improve existing AI models and methodologies. Collaborating with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners to advance AI initiatives. Publishing research findings and contribute to the organization's thought leadership in AI. Project Management: Overseeing AI projects from conception to deployment, ensuring they meet scope, time, and quality standards. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and processes. Developing and maintaining project documentation, including technical specifications, project plans, and progress reports. Qualifications Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in ALL of the following: AI/ML, with a proven track record of leading successful AI projects; Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), programming languages (e.g., Python, R), and data analysis tools; and Experience in deploying AI solutions in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and/or with on-prem solutions (e.g. Llama3, Falcon, etc.). Desired, but not required: Applicants with a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, or a related field. A Ph.D. is highly desirable.
