Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by Cognia, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Position Summary
Working from the Duluth, GA office, the High School Program Coordinator- Coordinator of Counseling and Student Services at Georgia Connections Academy is a 12-month employee school-level leader who will serve on the High School Leadership Team. They will work collaboratively with school and district leaders, to administer, monitor, and implement district and school level initiatives related to Georgia Connections Academy’s counseling and student services program. The Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of our program framework to support the academic, college and career, and social-emotional needs of all students on a district level. The Program Coordinator serves as the liaison between high school counseling, teachers, leadership and families, and facilitates meetings with all required stakeholders. This position is responsible for assisting the High School Principal in the overall administration and management of the school-wide student services and school counseling program. All GACA staff must be able to participate in monthly in-person activities, including but not limited to:
School and department meetings,
Student engagement opportunities,
Required training/development,
School-level events, such as state testing and graduation.
This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Counseling certification with a Master’s in School Counseling or School Social Work
GAPSC educational leadership certification or currently enrolled in a leadership program.
Must have received a rating of Effective or Highly Effective in the most recent performance reviews.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in education
Team player with demonstrated leadership skills
○ Leadership and supervisor experience preferred
Experience in writing policies and procedures
Experience in or willingness to learn grant writing
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work well in fast-paced environment
Team player track record; ability to collaborate

Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel).
Must be able and willing to conduct and participate in collaborative meetings, professional development sessions, and events at the GACA office and/or other locations as needed.
The applicant should be prepared to attend events and meetings at the GACA office in Duluth, as well as travel to meet with students in different regions of the state throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
Leads HS Counseling Team
Manages implementation of School Year Cycle tasks related to HS Counseling (RSCS, CPT placement, Welcome Calls, etc.)
Oversees High School Progression Plan
Updates and Development, Manages & Monitors HS Enrollment Dataviews and Schedule change policies throughout the year, regularly reporting HS Team progress
Sectioning Representative for school counselor Course changes and all sections necessary for School Counseling.
Child welfare and school counselor issue aware ticket management and monitoring
Meets regularly with the High School Leadership Team, and HS GASS Team
Helps train and onboards new HS counseling team members
Ensures counselors are anchored to district-wide RTI processes
Attends High School monthly Faculty Meetings, Career Ladder Meetings and High School Master Teacher Meetings
Attends Counseling District Improvement planning data meetings at least quarterly and submits reports and data
Attends Counseling Career Ladder meetings
Supervise multiple members of the Counseling Department
Be a part of 504 or counseling audits from OCR, GA DOE, advocates, etc.
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, support staff, caretakers and learning coaches to create a unified and comprehensive approach to student support
Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and patterns that inform decision-making for individual student interventions and school level support strategies
Provide training and ongoing professional development for school staff on mandated reporting, MKV, child abuse, and any other required yearly trainings. Must be comfortable with public speaking
Establish systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and adjust strategies as needed.
Be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders with a focus on high school stakeholders
Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines related to graduation requirements, 504 implementation, HHB, MKV and foster care.
Ability to problem-solve and handle escalated/crisis situations.
Participate in the hiring and onboarding process of new employees
Assist in preparing the annual school profile
Manage or triage the high school summer school enrollment process
Leads HS RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) application process
Manage HS STRIKE stakeholders and STRIKE initiatives and its impact to CCRPI/Readiness
Other duties as assigned
