Amentum Fuel Distribution System Mechanic in United States
Purpose and Scope:
Perform preventive/recurring maintenance and inspection requirements at the required frequencies for all fuel distribution systems and equipment. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
Essential Responsibilities:
Fills in as the Fuel Yard Manager in their absence.
Perform preventive/recurring maintenance and inspection requirements at the required frequencies for all fuel distribution systems and equipment IAW UFC 3-460-03 and other applicable directives, manufacturer’s specifications, and best commercial practices.
Plan and execute preventive/recurring maintenance and inspections to ensure that all facilities and equipment remain safe for occupation and functionally support the mission.
Follow and meet the timeframes for preventive/recurring maintenance and inspections IAW UFC 3-460-03 and other applicable directives, and manufacturer’s specifications.
Maintain current shop level Preventive/Recurring Maintenance and Inspection Plan schedules
Provide maintenance of fuel, propane storage and/or shipping tanks and Government service stations, including monthly tank inspections.
Manage, maintain, inspect, repair, troubleshoot and modify all fuel and petroleum storage, distribution, and dispensing systems, including all associated piping and valves.
Support to UK Ship to Shore refueling operations and pipeline inspections per International Agreements and Det 2 CC Direction.
Procure limited unleaded fuel from the local Ascension economy or Government approved method.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in maintaining fuel bulk storage and distribution systems and equipment preferably with the AFSC 3E4X2.
Completed a basic liquid fuel systems maintenance course equivalent to the requirements for award of the AFSC 3E432 skills specialty.
Have experience in functions such as installation, maintenance and repair of liquid fuel systems and components.
Current on Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write English is required.
Must be able to receive instructions/directions and provide progress reports via radio or cellular phone.
Ability to read and write English is required.

Must be a USN to fill this position.
Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport.
Must be eligible for a Non-Sensitive (Tier 1) investigation and be able to receive a Geneva Convention CAC issued.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies.
Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds.
This position will be exposed to products of fire to include heat, smoke, toxic fumes, and gasses.
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
