The role

The Financial Compliance – Manager lead all aspects of providing complementary expertise, support, monitoring, and challenge in the management of risk within the firm. The primary objective is to ensure development, implementation, and constant development of risk management, internal controls, at process, systems, and entity levels. The role involves coordinating and facilitating the achievement of various risk management objectives, such as compliance with ethical standards, internal control efficiency, sustainability, and quality assurance.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Risk Management Practices:

Ability in developing, implementing, and continuously improving standard processes within the organization. This involves working closely with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks, assess their impact on the organization, and develop strategies to mitigate or control them efficiently.

  • Internal Controls:

Ability to support the establishment and maintaining of robust internal control systems across all business processes and functions. This includes assessing existing controls, identifying gaps or weaknesses, and implementing required improvements to safeguard the organization's assets, data, and reputation.

  • Compliance and Ethical Behavior:

Leading compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and acceptable ethical behavior is a critical aspect of the role.

  • Information and Technology Security:

Ability to collaborate with IT and information security teams to assess and improve security measures.

  • Testing and Reporting:

Testing is foreseen to be a key responsibility and area where they would dedicate most of the time and effort. They will conduct detailed testing and generate comprehensive reports on the adequacy and efficiency of risk controls, including internal controls. These reports will be presented to senior management and relevant partners, providing valuable insights for decision-making and continuous improvement.

A) **Control Testing: Design and implement testing plans to assess the strength of existing internal controls. Conduct walkthroughs, sample testing, and substantive testing to identify control gaps, weaknesses, and potential areas of non-compliance.

B) **Compliance Testing: Perform compliance testing to verify adherence to applicable laws and ethical standards. Evaluate whether the companies policies and procedures are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standard processes.

C) **IT Systems Testing: Conduct testing of technology controls, data security, and access controls to safeguard critical information and systems.

  • Continuous Improvement:

This involves finding opportunities to improve risk management processes and internal controls, implementing standard methodologies, and keep track of emerging trends.

  • Training and Awareness:

Conduct training sessions and awareness programs for employees and team members on compliance requirements, internal controls.

What we need to see from you

  • Risk Management Experience: Some knowledge and understanding of risk principles, practices, and methodologies, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.

  • Internal Controls: Some experience in crafting, implementing, and evaluating internal control to guarantee the safeguarding of assets and compliance with companies policies.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and draw relevant insights to make informed decisions and address compliance and risk-related challenges.

  • Soft Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to convey detailed compliance issues clearly to various customers, including senior management, auditors, and employees.

  • Auditing and Reporting: Some familiarity with auditing principles.

  • Ethics and Integrity: Ability to demonstrate dedication to ethical behavior and a strong sense of integrity when handling financial and compliance matters.

  • Partnership and Leadership: The ability to work in collaboration with different teams and lead discussions on risk-related topics and control improvements.
