Entry-Level Distribution Engineer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a full-time Entry-Level Engineer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Ann Arbor, Michigan office.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Entry-Level Engineer will apply their knowledge of engineering principles to the accurate and efficient design of overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV to 35kV).

  • The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Learn client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations.

  • Understand and follow POWER's standards, procedures, and processes.

  • Understand and adhere to task budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

  • Be capable of working both independently and within a team framework.

  • Perform some fieldwork, as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.

  • Must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.

  • Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process.

  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • BSCE, BSEE, BSME degree from an ABET-accredited university.

  • Internship or co-op experience – preferably with engineering consulting firm or utility.

  • Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or ability to pass within one year of graduating.

  • Familiarity with distribution design software, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices.

  • Strong computer design skills, ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and aptitude for retaining and applying on-the-job training.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively with both inter- and intradepartmental teams.
