Summary
The Smart Factory Automation (FA) Engineer will work in a highly automated environment and support the overall layout of ESMI building in Lansing and lead the installation project of Factory Automation (FA) equipment in the ESMI. In addition, the FA Part Engineer will not only install the equipment, but also consider the operation and maintenance scenarios during the mass production taking into effect safety, quality, cost, and the efficiency of the newly applied system. The FA Part will be sharing the same goal of the Smart Factory Team, building the new “Smart Factory” of the advanced battery manufacturing process.
Responsibilities:
Conceptualize and manage FA equipment and the layout of the ESMI buildings 1 and 2
review and finalize the specifications and drawings of the automated process flow equipment including AGVs, stockers, and conveyors
manage and track the installation progress of the FA equipment
Participate in developing processes and parameters; implement new ideas to improve safety, quality, cost and productivity of the FA process
Initiate the purchasing of the installation of manufacturing equipment
Work with other teams and vendors to test and validate the installation and performance of the newly applied system
Improve efficiency and process capability of the expansion building through applying automated systems
Review specifications, detailed drawings, and technical manuals of the FA equipment designs
Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience:
1 to 3+ years of related experience
3+ years of project management experience is a plus
Experience with Solid works, AutoCAD, or other design program is preferred
Experience in the battery manufacturing process is desired
Skills:

Knowledge and application of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of expansion works, and CAD
Proficient in Excel application of statistical knowledge
