The Director of Learning will be responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of all learning and development initiatives across the organization. This role will oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs supporting employee development, enhance organizational performance, and align with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in L&D, proven experience in a complex, matrixed organization, and a passion for fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Learning Strategy Development:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy that aligns with business goals and supports organizational growth.

  • Partner with senior leadership to identify key learning priorities and create tailored solutions for diverse employee groups.

Program Design & Implementation:

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of innovative training programs, including technical skills training, leadership development, compliance training, and onboarding.

  • Implement a blended learning approach that incorporates digital learning, instructor-led training, and experiential learning opportunities.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and develop a team of L&D professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the effective execution of learning initiatives.

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to champion the importance of continuous learning and drive engagement with L&D programs.

Technology & Innovation:

  • Leverage learning technologies and platforms to create scalable and accessible learning experiences.

  • Continuously explore new learning methodologies and technologies to enhance the learning experience and effectiveness.

Measurement & Evaluation:

  • Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of learning initiatives on employee performance and business outcomes.

  • Use data and feedback to refine and improve learning programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the organization.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the L&D budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to maximize ROI on learning investments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large, complex organization.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing successful L&D strategies and programs, ideally in a technical or operational environment.

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and learning technologies.

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate insights into actionable improvements.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and drive change in a large organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the heavy equipment rental or construction industry.

  • Certification in Learning & Development or related field (e.g., CPLP, SHRM-SCP, ATD).
