AON Consultant - Broking and Financial Management in United States

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Health Solutions business group within Aon.

What the day will look like

  • Technical and/or content review regarding

  • Analysis review and negotiation of annual renewals

  • Analysis and cost projections review following carrier marketings

  • Experience monitoring, including analysis of claim costs, trends and client relevant KPIs

  • Cost analysis with regards to plan modifications

  • Support ad-hoc financial requests, working with carriers and other business units to support client facing colleagues

  • Preparation and/or review of client ready material

  • Provide technical expertise to client teams and analysts in respect to the work being completed

  • Participate in the elaboration of client communication material following renewals, marketings, new plan implementations, redesigns or for union meeting purposes, with regards to the financials

  • Provide advanced analysis, insights and recommendations to client teams and other team members

  • Attend client meetings in support of the client teams as required

  • Coordinate projects with analysts, other business units and carriers

  • Increase efficiency by helping improve standardized processes and add value to client deliverables

  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, client teams and carriers

  • Act as a role model, ensuring adherence to internal tools, quality, technical, professional and ethical standards

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the group benefits industry, systems, products, trends and emerging technology, to support a thorough understanding of how this relates to increasing value to clients

  • Participate in team projects and activities which drive innovation, improved client value and business results

    How this opportunity is different

    As a Consultant in our Broking and Financial Management team, you will be supporting client teams in the servicing of clients with respect to the financial management of their benefit programs. Working with a team of analysts and senior team leaders you will be involved with a variety of client deliverables including but not limited to annual renewals, carrier marketings, experience reporting and analysis, budget preparation, review of financial statements, union negotiations, pricing and plan redesigns.

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 4- 8 years in group benefits experience in consulting or underwriting environment is required;

  • Must have and maintain a valid group insurance license – multi-jurisdictional is an asset;

  • Good communication skills English and French is an asset;

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills in developing solutions for complex client/business issues;

  • Proven organization skills and the ability to effectively coordinate the delivery of projects and advisory services;

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and client team members;

  • Strong technical expertise and the proven ability to remain current with respect to industry trends, provincial and federal legislative policies and changes;

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both verbally and written;

  • Ability to work collaboratively as a key member of a team and independently with minimum supervision;

  • Meticulous attention to detail, refined organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;

  • Proven ability to prioritize competing requirements and deadlines under pressure;

  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with the Microsoft Office Package.

  • University or College graduate in Financial Services, Mathematics, Actuarial science, or related discipline, or equivalent years of industry experience

  • Completed Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) would be an asset
