Class Summary

Gwinnett County Community Services maintains and operates the county's award-winning park system and provides high quality Community Services facilities, innovative programs, and provides space to bring a variety of community programs and agencies and quality services to meet the broad-based needs of Gwinnett's diverse population, fostering a sense of community, creating a safe and secure environment, and enhancing Gwinnett's quality of life. Gwinnett County Community Services administers parks operations, programs, buildings, and aquatic centers for our citizens.

This position involves working individually and with other staff to include: prioritizing of assigned work; Coordinates and assists in the design, review, approval, and implementation of various construction projects including trail related projects and contracted services. Inspects construction sites for adherence to specifications, timelines, budgets, and other project management issues. Reviews, monitors, and adjusts construction project schedules based upon status and phase, produces timeline updates, and approves project payments. Prepares cost estimates, timelines, bid schedules, contract documents, statement of qualifications, and other documents related to request for proposals or project designs. Coordinates the negotiation and approval of costs, permits, and other administrative issues. Provides technical assistance to contractors and County departments with interpreting specifications and ordinances and resolving on site problems. Prepares reports and recommendations for County departments and the Board of Commissioners as well as other duties of a similar nature or level as required.

This position will be responsible as determined by management to review documents and all related development permit applications and zoning cases for adherence to the Unified Development Ordinance for the consistent implementation of the Gwinnett Countywide Trail Master Plan. This may include managing trail related projects design and construction projects as well as assisting with non-County stake holders with the coordination of other trails for interconnectivity County wide.

The Grade of this position is C43(1).

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field;

  • Three years (3) of related construction management experience, including managing multiple diversely scoped projects at a time to include some with budgets in excess of $200,000;

  • OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above;

  • Valid Driver's License from state of residency.
