Compass Maryland Community Engagement Manager in United States
Compass, Inc., a progressive, non-profit organization located in Beltsville, Maryland supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, is accepting applications for the Community Engagement Manager positions in various Maryland Counties. Under the general supervision of the CE or Employment Coordinator, the CE Manager is a CE Coach who also supports people to achieve meaningful lives as valued members of their community through engagement in work or volunteer activities and other meaningful day activities. CE Managers also help coordinate CDS groups and facilitation/coordination of grouping, staffing, activity schedules, and employment services as applicable. CE Managers model community engagement and exploration, and partner with people they are supporting to learn daily what a full life means to them while supporting staff to do the same. The CE Manager will work under direct supervision of the CE Coordinator, and will collaborate with other program directors, coordinators, and other staff as required to uphold a standard of seamless service delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Demonstrate a strong understanding and dedication to Compass’s mission. Actively promote and represent organization’s philosophy through all interactions with both internal and external customers.
· Planning weekly individualized schedules within interdepartmental teams and coordination of groups within required DDA ratio
· Exploration of community activities/groups and coordination with CE Manager for informational sharing and other coordination related activities
· Individual specific training for all individuals within a group; ability to float/coordinate floaters as needed when there are staff shortages.
· Ability to support one person in community engagement while managing the team and providing modeling of support.
· Community mapping/exploring with individuals and staff; modeling of explorative conversations to learn about the person supported.
· Building and/or maintaining relationships with community partners; maintaining great representation of Compass in the community
· Monitoring of community engagement efforts and data integrity in internal database; review and marking attendance as done daily by following the PCP procedure.
· Supporting staff with documentation efforts and integrity of data collection through review and weekly team meetings as needed
· Support staff to integrate employment services such as Discovery and Job Development through their meaningful day activities and service documentation
· Use of technology for communication, data tracking, and completion of team documents.
· Successful maintenance of relationships with colleagues, people supported and their families.
· Attendance to annual PCP meetings, Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) meetings, and other programs required training as required.
· Work with other CE Coaches on a team to coordinate multiple schedules to follow daily; working with CE Coaches on individualized basis to model community engagement/monitor efforts.
· Implement Person Centered Plans (PCP) that support a person’s vision and goals for their life including creating monthly schedules with meaningful activities and working with management to identify community resources.
Support provided includes, but is not limited to:
o Assistance with personal care needs
o Assistance with behavioral needs, and documentation of incidents/changes
o Assistance with safety needs while in the community
o Assistance with participating in meaningful activities, joining groups, volunteering, and/or looking for employment as desired.
o Assistance with transportation needs (primarily through use of public transportation) including travel training, booking trips, and researching routes
o Provide daily documentation of people’s progress, schedule changes, and activity schedules
Competencies
· Ability to think outside of the box of typical service provision and create exciting and engaging opportunities for the people we support.
· Ability to utilize and follow technological procedures/processes established by Compass, and ability to train staff. Excellent communication skills.
· Knowledge of all DDA waiver services and willingness to undergo training for service updates as required. Knowledge of Employment First Initiative
· Ability to work through conflict in a way the yields positive, meaningful results and ability
to receive constructive criticism/feedback.
· Thorough documentation of all contacts with the individual, community leads secured, and interdisciplinary team communication each week. Documentation must be timely, detailed and accurate.
· Ability to work independently
· Supervision of CE Coaches and provide support as needed.
· Effective advocacy skills; proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships, respond to individuals in a timely manner, use independent judgment and initiative, and to access services.
· Basic knowledge of COMAR standards and state regulations.
· Working knowledge of and commitment to self-determination principles and a willingness to provide supports at a time, location, and in a manner that meets the various needs of individuals served.
· Ability to facilitate empowerment of individuals through promoting independence, self-determination and creativity in planning
· Strong belief in opportunities for full inclusion and community engagement for people we support.
· Be friendly, patient, reliable, nurturing, have good interpersonal and good communication skills.
· Be good listeners who often ask open-ended questions to guide people in the right direction, rather than simply telling them what to do.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or GED, functional reading and writing skills. Experience in assisting people supported with exploring their community and fostering meaningful connections is preferred. Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and own a reliable vehicle for providing transportation as needed to and from the job site and or other meaningful community activities. Mileage is reimbursed. Must pass background check requirements. Must be CPR/First Aid, DSP II, and able to complete other training certifications within 90 days of hire as required. Paid training available. Proof of COVID vaccination required or must be willing to get vaccinated in first 45 days (about 1 and a half months) of employment.
