Summary

The Clinical Informaticist, as part of the Clinical Risk Management team, will be integral to ensuring eClinicalWorks consistently delivers safe healthcare technology products. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments including Product Management, Product Development, Interoperability, Clinical Content, Data Migration, and Implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Product Management team to assess customer requirements, particularly in areas such as interoperability, integration, clinical decision support, and clinical data validation (Design and Development).

  • Define and implement healthcare interoperability solutions.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to patients.

  • Maintain hazard logs throughout various software lifecycle stages (Documentation).

  • Serve as a customer representative within the organization.

  • Proactively seek ways to enhance products to reduce potential clinical risks (Design and Development) and improve patient safety.

  • Review issues reported in the EHR by customers and internal stakeholders from a patient safety perspective.

  • Assist in creating and maintaining clinical content for various specialties utilizing the eClinicalWorks EHR product suite.

  • Act as a clinical expert on ad hoc on strategic projects with other teams/departments.

  • Interact with customers to discuss potential patient safety issues, obtain customer feedback, and represent the company as a clinical subject matter expert.

    Requirements

  • Currently registered as a licensed MD, DO, NP or PA

  • 5+ years of direct patient care experience in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting (including utilization of an electronic medical record system)

  • 3+ years of experience in clinical risk management, patient safety, healthcare informatics and/or a related field and the following:

  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, particularly in understanding and mitigating clinical risks

  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows and clinical decision support systems

  • Proficiency in using and understanding EHR/EMR systems, particularly in relation to interoperability and data integration

  • Strong analytical skills to assess clinical data and identify potential patient safety risks

    Other Skills

  • Familiarity with HL7 Fundamentals (FHIR, V2, V3, CDA standards)

  • Experience with clinical content development and management

  • A degree in Clinical Informatics, or a related discipline are a plus

  • HL7 certification is a plus

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams and represent customer needs

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • A deep commitment to and representative of patient safety and quality improvement

  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate documentation throughout the software lifecycle
