The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Anesthesiology, in the Division of Anesthesiology, are actively seeking a full-time faculty member for the position ofClinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology (Clinician Educator), Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a 360 bed tertiary Children's Hospital voted the "Best Pediatric Hospital in the West" for 10 successive years and serves as a quaternary referral center for the Western United States and the Pacific Basin. All medical specialties are represented. The Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine is responsible for approximately 22,000 anesthetics per year with over 1000 heart cases and for the care of over 2,500 ICU admissions. CHLA is a premier teaching hospital and has been affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California since 1932.

There are currently six pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists. This service is committed to a comprehensive team approach integrated into the Heart Institute which includes cardiology, CT surgery, critical care and anesthesiology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing anesthesia care in a well-established national program caring for over 800 bypass cases, 200 other cardiac surgeries, 800 cardiac catheterizations and MRIs and consultations for children with congenital heart disease undergoing non-cardiac procedures. The Heart Institute at CHLA treats patients with all congenital heart diseases with a large neonatal population, all stages of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, heart transplantations, ECMO and hybrid procedures.

ACCM currently trains 150 residents from many Southern California anesthesia programs and has a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship, a pediatric cardiac anesthesia fellowship, pain fellowship, palliative fellowship and a critical care medicine fellowship. Academic and research interest is also sought. Applicants must have completed a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship and have additional training and or experience in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
