Summit Design and Engineering is seeking qualified CEI Inspectors for road and bridge construction projects. We are looking for individuals to perform construction inspection (roadway and structure) and materials testing while ensuring compliance with the plans and specifications.
Responsibilities:
Perform field inspection and oversight of construction activities under the review and direction of Project Administrator and Sr. Inspector
Maintain daily reports in SiteManager including detail records of project progress
Assist Sr. Inspector with coordinating materials sampling and testing
Experienced with TDOT construction inspection and procedures, SiteManager and MAC
Coordinate with contractors' staff and effectively communicate with all parties
Perform standard mathematical calculations
Perform other tasks as assigned to help the project be successful
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) for transportation project as described herein
Thorough knowledge of TDOT specifications and standards with ability and willingness to study and advance relevant knowledge outside of work
The following qualifications and certifications through TDOT CTQP and/or ACI are required: CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I; ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician; CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I; CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I; CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures); IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I; CTQP Final Estimates Level I; FDOT Intermediate MOT; Nuclear Radiation Safety; Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
Proficient in the use of iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, SiteManager, MAC and/or OneDrive
Must possess good interpersonal, coordination and communication skills
Able and willing to work either day or night shifts, weekends and/or flexible schedules as required to support the project requirements
Able to accept assignments requiring extended travel
Highly-motivated and able to work independently, use own judgment and make good decisions.
Able to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports
Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge and structure plans, standards and contract specifications
Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion.
Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks
Must be able to lift and carry up-to 70 pounds, on occasion
Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
Valid Driver's license with good driving record and ability to drive
