GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC), Wyoming Honor Farm (WHF) in Riverton seeks a Business Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, warehouse, canteen, and inmate services, and provides oversight and management of the facility's finances and budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Assists with preparing and maintaining the facility's budget and directly oversees facility fiscal affairs.

  • Oversees the facility's finances including approval of expenditures, maintaining fiscal controls, and preparing and submitting financial reports.

  • Responsible for business and procurement management for the facility including repairs for facilities, inventory management, and operational expenditures.

  • Assists in setting and implementing program policies and strategic planning efforts.

  • Researches and resolves difficult questions, concerns, and complaints on fiscal matters.

  • Writes and reviews official correspondence about the agency's business.

  • Acts on behalf of the agency in public relations, vendors, and other state agencies.

  • Directs, instructs, counsels, and supervises facility personnel to accomplish agency objectives.

  • Oversees the daily work activities of employees to ensure compliance with State, Department, and institutional policies and procedures.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to those with a bachelor's degree in business administration or a closely related field. Those with supervisory experience, experience with the State of Wyoming Financial Accounting, System (WOLFS), and correctional experience.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Account Standards issued by the Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB), state procurement rules and regulations, and state budgeting.

  • Knowledge of Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles, Governmental Accounting Standards, government accounting, budgeting, and procurement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Business Management)

Experience:

1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Management) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Business Office Coordinator II

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Management) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Business Office Coordinator II
