Summary The Department of the Interior is devoted to protecting and preserving the natural resources of this great nation, including National Parks, Landmarks, and the well-being of communities, including those of Native American, Alaska Natives and affiliated Islanders. Responsibilities This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Business Integration Office (BIO). These positions may be filled in Lakewood, Colorado; Reston, Virginia; or a remote duty location. This position is being advertised as both location negotiable after selection and with a duty stations of Lakewood, Colorado, or Reston, Virginia, with the option of telework. If applying to "negotiable after selection", this means that your duty station will be based off your home address and you will be a full-time remote worker. If applying to a specific duty station, you may be allowed to telework a set number of day(s) per pay period, with supervisory approval". At the full performance level GS-14 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Advocate for the use of data to support business decisions across DOI, including leading and supporting discovery of uses for data and training on BI tools, including SAP Business Warehouse (BW), SAP Business Objects (Web Intelligence and Analysis for OLAP), Tableau, Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform. Work with all stakeholders, including business users, policy offices, bureau representatives and other BIO teammates to maintain and improve FBMS and the BIO Data Governance program, allowing for improved data quality and new and creative uses for DOI data. Develop new analytical techniques as required to evaluate complex processes and dependencies and to support continuous improvement of the expenditure of infrastructure resources in support of the BIO mission. Research and investigate new or improved business practices, management practices, information systems, and operations procedures to ensure continued improvement. Develop and publish custom interactive reports and dashboards with BIO supported tools, incorporating multiple data sources, drill-down capability, and visual analytics. Develop, document and present findings and recommendations up through the executive level to encourage understanding and acceptance of analysis and recommendations. The Office of the Secretary has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Salary Information: GS-13 $117,962-$153.354 per annum (Reston, VA) $114,970 - $149,465 per annum (Lakewood, CO) $88,520 - $115,079 per annum (Remote Location) *This is the base GS salary rate. If selected for a remote location, pay will be set according to selectee's geographic area. GS-14: $139,395-$181,216 per annum (Reston, VA) $135,860 - $176,620 per annum (Lakewood, CO) $104,604 - $135,987 per annum (Remote Location) *This is the base GS salary rate. If selected for a remote location, pay will be set according to selectee's geographic area. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. Specialized Experience: GS-13 To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Applying statistical analysis techniques to operational data in order to improve performance or avoid cost; AND 2) Assisting in the conversion of results of highly technical information technology (IT) analysis into written reports, project papers or other written media using business English to target a non-technical audience. MUST MEET ALL. GS-14 To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.
