Customs and Border Protection Budget Analyst in United States
Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner located in either Indianapolis, IN or Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above. Responsibilities This position starts at a salary of $103,409.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $134,435.00 (GS-13, Step 10). Salary: Salary listed reflects the rest of U.S. scale and, if applicable, will be adjusted to meet the locality pay or cost of living expenses of the duty location upon selection. While serving as a Budget Analyst, your duties may include: Providing expert advice and assistance to managers and budget staff across the phases of the budget process for appropriated and reimbursable funding types. Working with program offices to develop appropriate spend plans; monitoring and assisting with the commitment, obligation, and expenditure of allotted funds. Assisting in the development of financial management procedures and guidance to clarify regulations or policies related to budget execution. Performing financial analysis by applying established principles, concepts, and practices to a wide variety of difficult problems. Analyzing and evaluating continual changes in program plans, funding, and their effect on financial and budget program milestones. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Using financial management systems and reporting functions for analysis and management/leadership reporting, presentations, and recommendations; Tracking progress of budgetary resources through all stages of the budget cycle; Understanding federal compensation and benefits law and regulations and how they apply to the workforce; and Analyzing financial and budgetary relationships and developing recommendations for financial and/or budget actions.
