Job Description
The College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services at Texas A&M University-Texarkana is currently seeking an outstanding candidate at the Assistant /Associate Professor rank in Kinesiology with expertise in exercise science, coaching and administration, and exercise rehabilitation. The position will start Fall 2024 . The successful candidate should possess an excellent record in teaching, scholarship, and service . He/she/they will be expected to foster the growth of first-rate Kinesiology courses, including building on existing strengths within the Kinesiology program and through collaboration with other facult ies at the university . The candidate will also be responsible for addressing student needs in Kinesiology, including academic advising, and assisting the division chair and d ean with the implementation of short and long-term goals of the division and c ollege . This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position .
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Kinesiology and coordinate with other division s to deliver Kinesiology courses related to curricular and the strategic priorities of the college.
Teach 24 SCH per academic year . Assist with developing programs in Kinesiology and p rovide input for programmatic changes , including contributions to curriculum and course development.
Foster interdisciplinary initiatives that broaden the interests and research of students participating in Pre-Physical Therapy and Kinesiology courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Advise students in the Kinesiology program and supervise student projects and research activities.
E ngage with external communities and professional bodies to further the strategic interests and strengths of Kinesiology and the college .
Engage in innovative projects focused on enhancing the academic, operational, and economic effectiveness of the c ollege and faculty , including external research funding initiatives, and publish ed scholarly work.
Work with the Kinesiology program coordinator , division chair , and CNHHS Dean to represent the department and c ollege at various meetings, recruitment events, conferences, and university functions as necessary.
Perform appropriate level of services within the university, including serving on different committees for the division and c ollege.
Perform other positions and responsibilities as assigned by the division chair and the dean of College .
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Minimum Qualifications
Earned Doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Coaching and Administration, Physical Education, and Exercise/Sports Sciences or a closely related fields from an accredited university. (Advanced ABD will be considered, but the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment)
Exceptional record of effective teaching, scholarship, and service .
Experience in course development, management, teaching, and quality assurance at the college or university level.
Exceptional skill in verbal and written communications and interpersonal relations
Must be able to work effectively with all segments of the campus population
Preferred Qualifications
2- 3 years’ experience teaching in upper or lower division Kinesiology and/or Kinesiology-related courses and laboratories, utilizing current supporting technologies, at the university level
Familiarity with standards-based curriculum , instruction , and accreditation processes (e.g., SACS - CO C , etc.) and assessment, including data collection, organization, and analysis.
Experience in research productivity, including competitive extramural funding and publication of peer-reviewed research, with a strong ability to foster collaborative, extramurally funded Kinesiology projects and/or research for students leading to publications or presentations at professional conference or symposium
Experience with student-centered learning and team problem solving.
Involvement in professional organizations
Ability to assist with university and professional service activities, including national and international outreach to, and collaboration with other academic institutions.
