Job Description
The School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Professor of Practice to join our growing Public Health program. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Public Health and contributing to service activities within the school and community. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of public health education and engage with faculty across disciplines in educational initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Teach core courses in Public Health, including Epidemiology, Health Policy, and Global Health.
Mentor and advise students in their academic and professional development.
Participate in curriculum and development and program evaluations.
Serve on committees and contribute to service activities within the university and community.
Collaborate with faculty across disciplines in educational initiatives.
Required Education & Experience:
Ph.D. or Dr.PH in Public Health.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.
Proficiency in using computer technology for teaching and data analysis.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of Public Health Principles: Strong understanding of core Public Health concepts such as Epidemiology, Health Policy, Biostatistics, and Global Health issues.
Teaching Skills: Proven ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate Public Health courses effectively.
Mentoring Skills: Experience in advising and mentoring students in academic and professional settings.
Curriculum Development: Familiarity with creating and evaluating Public Health curriculum in line with current Public Health challenges and trends.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with faculty, engage with students, and communicate educational initiatives effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in curriculum development and/or program evaluation is preferred.
Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration within education.
Involvement in Public Health community outreach or service initiatives.
Familiarity with accreditation processes and program evaluations in Public Health education.
