Job Description
The Department of Art & Design at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design to begin Fall 2025. The department seeks a motivated and collaborative educator and practicing designer with experience teaching within a comprehensive, practice-based graphic design program committed to engaging in service activity with university and professional communities. The teaching load will consist of 2 courses per semester with one 3 course semester every two years and with release for research, scholarly, and/or creative activity.
The Department of Art & Design is dedicated to cross-disciplinary, collaborative initiatives, enriching our community, and mentoring students to be professionally driven artists, designers, scholars, and creative leaders. The Department of Art & Design offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts with Teacher Certification, and Master of Fine Arts. The Weil Gallery is located on campus in the Center for the Arts building, while the future Downtown Gallery will occupy an off-campus facility located at 223 N. Chaparral St. Convenient access to the metropolitan centers of Houston, San Antonio, and Austin provides further opportunities for cultural enrichment.

Required Qualifications:
MFA (Master of Fine Arts) degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Communication Design, or equivalent terminal degree.
Potential to maintain an active professional design practice and/or creative scholarship.
Capability to teach undergraduate graphic design courses ranging from introductory to advanced levels.
Demonstrated proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and knowledge of the Mac operating system.
Capability to contribute to curriculum development, based on the evolving field of graphic design and the candidate's expertise.
Knowledge of design theory, methods, principles, and history, as well as contemporary professional design practices.
Capability to teach in blended (hybrid), online, and in-person (face-to-face) formats.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
A record of university-level teaching experience beyond graduate school.
Evidence of successful design practice or design-related professional employment.
A record of professional accomplishments in graphic design or design-related fields.
Demonstrated experience in incorporating emergent and digital technologies into a graphic design curriculum.
