Job Description
The English department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is actively seeking qualified candidates to teach first-year writing courses this coming academic year.
Teaching opportunities include online and on-campus first-year writing courses. On-campus teaching assignments are located in Corpus Christi, Texas. Online teaching assignments are available for alternative work locations. Adjunct instructors are hired to teach on a temporary and part-time basis.

Job Duties Include:
Teach assigned courses as specified in the schedule and course contract
Complete position-specific training
Prepare essential learning objectives, lesson plans, and assignments, and post a course syllabus in coordination with the First Year Writing Program coordinator
Clearly communicate course objectives, assignments, and deadlines using the university’s Learning Management System (Canvas)
Provide feedback and evaluate assignments in a timely and thorough manner
Maintain records of attendance and grading, and report early alerts for students who are not actively engaging in courses
Other duties as assigned and relevant to position
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline in hand at the time of appointment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching college-level writing courses
Experience teaching in on-campus, hybrid, and/or online delivery
Demonstrated history of quality teaching
