Position Overview
As aSourcing Manager at Permobil in Kista, Sweden, you will play a critical role in driving competitive advantage through strategic sourcing, operational excellence, and supplier development. This position is characterized by a dynamic high-mix setup, requiring the management of a diverse supplier base across multiple categories and regions, tailored to meet the needs of highly customized solutions. By collaborating across functions and geographies, you will lead initiatives to optimize costs, mitigate risks, and enhance supplier performance while contributing to Permobil’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Category and Strategic Sourcing Management
Act as the category manager for electronics and electromechanical components, creating and executing strategies to ensure competitive advantage in cost, quality, and supply reliability
Drive cost optimization through proactive exploration of value engineering, cost benchmarking, and innovative supplier partnerships.
Lead initiatives to optimize working capital and cash flow, including payment term negotiations, inventory management, and supplier financing strategies.
Sustainability and Risk Mitigation
Champion efforts to lower CO2 emissions in the supply chain by collaborating with suppliers on eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient manufacturing, and transportation solutions
Investigate and propose strategies to de-risk dependency on suppliers from politically sensitive regions (e.g., China and Taiwan) by identifying and qualifying alternative sources in other countries
Develop and maintain business continuity plans, ensuring supply resilience in response to geopolitical tensions or natural disasters.
Supplier Relationship and Development
Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Drive supplier development initiatives, focusing on quality improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
Conduct supplier segmentation and regularly evaluate supplier performance against KPIs such as quality, delivery, and cost targets.
Operational Excellence
Self-start and lead investigations into new sourcing opportunities, cost reduction measures, and process improvements.
Analyze market trends, emerging technologies, and industry innovations to maintain a competitive edge.
Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and Quality teams to align supplier capabilities with technical requirements and project needs.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards, including RoHS, REACH, and ISO certifications.
Leadership and Initiative
Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and align sourcing strategies with overall business objectives.
Proactively identify and execute strategies for continuous improvement in cost structure, working capital, and sustainability goals.
Act as a change agent within the organization, promoting a culture of curiosity, innovation, and proactive problem-solving.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
Minimum 7+ years of sourcing or procurement experience, preferably in electronics and electromechanical industries.
Proven success in cost optimization, supplier management, and sustainability initiatives.
Experience mitigating geopolitical risks and developing alternative sourcing strategies.
Technical Skills:
Strong expertise in cost engineering, reverse engineering, and should-cost analysis.
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and CO2 reduction strategies.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools for spend analysis and supply chain optimization.
Knowledge of global trade dynamics, tariffs, trade agreements, and geopolitical risks.
Soft Skills
