Industry Research & Creation Division - Strategic Research Office

Purpose of the Role

Industry Research & Creation Division (hereinafter referred to as “IRCD”) provides a full spectrum of services ranging from industry research to strategic solution proposals.

The individual shall be responsible for conducting research on specific industries, providing industry knowledge, views and insights to both internal stakeholders and clients, and engaging clients in discussions on business strategies by leveraging industry knowledge, thereby supporting business lines in identifying and creating business opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform in-depth analysis of Automotive sector in the APAC region.

• Proactively support business lines by providing industry knowledge, views and insights to both internal stakeholders and clients.

• Identify clients’ business challenges and recommend reasonable actions based on the adequate analysis and understanding of the latest industry trends, and medium-to long-term foresight.

• Collaborate closely with IRCD Tokyo’s Automotive team as well as overseas colleagues in charge to promote global sector activities as one team.

• Collaborate closely with JCBD Asia SBD (Japanese Corporate Banking Division Asia, Strategic Business Development) to make more effective and quality proposals.

• Collaborate closely with Japanese Corporate & Investment Banking Business Planning Division (hereinafter referred to as “JCIBPD”) to contribute to strategic initiatives of JCIB global business.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders both within MUFG and externally.

• Work with various external parties including, but not limited to, consultancies, credit rating agencies and government agencies to collect information to develop robust outcomes.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Degree qualified

• At least 4 years of industry research experience in the banking industry.

• At least 2 years of experience working in Automotive industry.

• Business proficiency in both written and spoken Japanese to effectively communicate daily with internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, IRCD Tokyo, JCIBPD and Mobility & Technology Division.

• Proficiency in both written and spoken Japanese (minimum JLPT1 Certification) to effectively communicate daily with internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, IRCD Tokyo, JCIBPD and Mobility & Technology Division.

• Good knowledge of industries and economies in the APAC region

• Considerable expertise, knowledge and views on the sector in charge.

• High capability of using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

• Advanced analytical skills to interpret large and complex datasets, identifying key insights and implications.

• High ability to create quality and easy-to-understand presentation materials.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence others through logical reasoning.

• Deep understanding of functions, departments, divisions in and out of MUFG, to foster effective collaboration and add value to business promotion efforts.
