Shell Electrical Maintenance Engineer in Singapore

MRTA (Maintenance, Reliability, Turnaround) is about understanding and maintaining our equipment as effectively and efficiently as possible, making sure it performs as intended. The Maintenance discipline covers the development of Maintenance strategies and the planning, coordination, and execution of Maintenance activities. It ensures safe, defect free and efficient operations through the regular upkeep of equipment and tools in the most cost efficient and timely manner.

What’s the role?

As Electrical Maintenance Engineer your key accountabilities include the following:

  • Responsible for maintenance on all electrical equipment including steam turbine generator, UPS, emergency diesel generator, Power distribution system/boards, VSD, HV and LV motors/cables, PLC, Earthing, IS/EX (ATEX) -equipment to ensure high plant availability and equipment integrity.

  • Mentor and guide the team (electrical maintenance personnel and contractors) in execution of electrical related maintenance in the process unit meeting the maintenance targets (HSSE, Meeting Plan, KPIs, Budget, etc.).

  • Undertake all maintenance activities related to Corrective and Preventive Actions and Management of Change (MOC) activities related to the Production Unit

  • Provides good documentation to ensure all equipment, technical records and drawings are updated to reflect the latest changes, proper and correct procedures are followed, configuration and software changes to electrical equipment are documented, archived, and backed up for recovery.

  • Initiate, review, support, coordinate and execute Capital Projects, Plant Change Requests where necessary.

  • Prepares job specifications and costing for works involved, compare with various suppliers, vendor for competitiveness & issuance of contracts to Contractors. Participate in contract review and highlight opportunities for competitive contracting.

  • Individual contributor and team player in collaboration with multiple disciplines, stakeholder and contractors, corporate partners.

  • Propose and implement innovative ideas in productivity (Time on Tools), competitiveness, sustainability, and digitalization through analysing and evaluating KPI data.

  • Compliance to site HSSE standards and requirements, enable a safe place to work, and accountable for all assigned critical activities.

  • Perform the role of an Authorized Permit Applicant and/or Authorized Engineer as per site Permit to Work (e-PTW) requirement.

  • Demonstrate competency growth by progressively acquiring the necessary certified roles such as Authorized Engineer.

  • Knowledge in international standards, local statutory standards and code of practice would be preferred.

  • Attend Standby Duty callout to an Emergency work upon request.

What we need from you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Assistant Engineer position: Minimum NITEC Level 2 certification in Electrical.

  • Engineer position: Minimum Diploma/Degree in Electrical.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Construction or Maintenance in oil & gas, chemical/ petrochemical or related industries.

  • Knowledge in international and local statutory standards such as IEEE, IEC, API, EEMUA, BS, NFPA, SS code is an advantage.

  • Knowledge in local regulatory requirements from Ministry of Manpower for work place safety and equipment governance is an advantage.

  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures for reliability improvements.

  • SAP (GSAP) knowledge in Maintenance Module.

  • Experience in field work interfacing and stakeholder’s engagement.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration and managing contractors and vendors.

  • Able to work in Team environment as well as standalone when need arises.
