Organization

To achieve our mission, we are seeking a driven and innovative HPC Application Benchmarker focused on putting our systems through rigorous testing at scale and helping debug issues seen during deployments. This high-impact role requires solid technical and personal skills as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and regions. In this role, you will be responsible for testing commercial and home-grown benchmarks across a variety of processor and accelerator technologies to prove our deployed systems can perform at the highest level.

These deliverables are critical to Lenovo’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-performance computation efficiently and effectively in some of the world’s largest Supercomputers. You will also interface with key stakeholders both inside and outside Lenovo to understand performance metrics and support the design process to offer the best solutions possible.

You will participate in a combination of virtual and in-person meetings with fellow team members, sellers, architects, and customers. The goal is to help our customers select the right technologies for their unique needs.

The role will be based in either Romania or United Kingdom

What else is waiting for you in this role?

  • Run and support performance Benchmarking, Top500, Green500 and IO500 across Lenovo’s customer base. This can be remote as well as onsite at customer locations worldwide depending on engagement.

  • Investigate and resolve computational performance issues related to benchmark applications and Lenovo servers, especially Lenovo server BIOS settings to help deliver Top500 and benchmark applications.

  • Work with the worldwide benchmarking team to understand which benchmarks should be utilized for each bid won and how to run them during acceptance testing.

  • Provide data and content for performance reports run during acceptance testing.

  • Work with colleagues from the Lenovo Professional Services team to help with cluster burn-in running HPL (CPU & GPU) and Top500/Green500 runs.

What do we expect from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant experience

  • 5+ years experience of working with Linux

  • 5+ years of working with scientific code running on HPC systems

  • Experience in scripting and coding, with specific experience in bash, python, C++, C, Fortran.

  • Experience running performance and benchmarking codes, specifically: HPL, Stream, IMB/OSU, TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLperf, Growmacs.

  • Knowledge of networking and security practices

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Experience with High-Performance Computing technology, including servers, Infiniband interconnects, accelerators, and storage solutions.

  • Experience with large-scale filesystems (Spectrum Scale, Lustre, etc), batch scheduling (SLURM) as well as common HPC SW and management tools

  • Experience in using parallel applications using OpenMP or MPI

  • A proven track record for problem-solving application issues, with strong presentation skills for both external and internal engagements.

  • Understanding and knowledge of Lenovo hardware.
