The Red Hat Application Services performance engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you will be part of a global team of engineers focusing on performance and scale for Red Hat product portfolio under Application Services.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of the tooling and services supported by the performance team. Profile and analyze applications under scale to improve performance and scalability.

In this role you'll be part of one of the best teams specializing in Java Virtual Machine performance in the world. You’ll interact frequently with other engineering teams and open source communities, use modern cloud technologies and cutting edge methodologies to profile, analyze and review our product portfolio to ensure we have the best performance possible.

We are considering candidate in the following countries: Spain, Italy, Czechia, France, Ireland, Poland, Portugal and we are looking for senior or middle level engineer.

What you’ll do

• Be part of a team of dedicated performance engineers

• Maintain and develop tooling and services the team provides to the Application Services organization

• Produce well-designed, maintainable software and participate in code reviews

• Participate in supporting an automated continuous performance system

• Communicate with project teams across divisions assisting with performance related tasks

• Be involved with customer cases where you will assist with performance and scale profiling and investigation

What you will bring

• Extensive professional development experience with Java programming language, experience with Python/Go is a plus

• Experience with performance optimization on Linux and/or on Virtual Machine

• Experience developing applications running on OpenShift/Kubernetes or in general containerized (Docker/Podman) applications

• Experience with agile development methodologies

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

• Being comfortable working in a remote-first, globally distributed team

• Experience with profiling tools like perf, async-profiler, JMC, etc is a plus

• Experience of Cloud-native observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins or Tekton) is a plus
