UL, LLC Senior Wire and Cable Engineer (m/f/d) – Medium and High Voltage in Poland

We are expanding our European team in the Wire and Cable division, and are looking for a
Senior Wire and Cable Engineer (m/f/d) – Medium and High Voltage
In this role, you will independently determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. Projects may include frequent travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites.
Evaluate and build technical solutions and pricing as per the customer’s request for proposal (RFP).
Subcontractor inquiry, materials/equipment/personnel planning to meet job and project requirements.
Perform sample testing and measurements at UL’s laboratories.
Visit subcontractor labs for test witness, auditing and product inspection.
Perform data analysis on the obtained testing data, prepare technical reports and present their results to customers.
Train and guide other engineers on the team to build competency in Medium Voltage /High Voltage cable qualification, quality assurance, and other lab testing programs. Provide technical input and advice to management.
Develop close working relationships with customers while increasing customer satisfaction.
Willing to travel over 30% to customer’s facilities and job site, including global travels.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
5 years plus of experience within Medium Voltage (MV)/High Voltage (HV) or high-power laboratories, MV/HV cable manufacturers, power utilities involving MV/HV cable systems or similar fields.
Strong knowledge and experiences in related industrial and international standards for MV/HV cable systems, including but not limited to ICEA/AEIC, IEEE, IEC, and CIGRE standards (e.g. IEC 62895, IEC 60840, IEC 62067, IEC 60502, HD 620, IEEE 404, CIGRE TB-496 or CIGRE TB-852).
Knowledge in high voltage testing technologies on power cables including high voltage withstand test, impulse test, load cycle test, dielectric loss test, partial discharge measurement etc.
Familiarity with high voltage safety requirements in laboratories and manufacturer plants. Commitment to safe operations and zero incident workplace.
Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all internal and external customers and make formal presentations to people at all levels, both within and outside the company.
Knowledge of basic computer software in the MS Office suite.
Able to handle multiple assignments concurrently without direct supervision.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record with a willingness to accept extended travel assignments.
Fluent English language skills.
Some plus qualifications, but not a must have:
Experiences working with/for power utilities, asset management for MV/HV equipment, field-testing technologies for MV/HV apparatus.
Knowledge and experience in electrical measurement and diagnostic testing technologies
Knowledge in CPR.
German language skills.
