Later this year, Auckland will welcome New Zealand’s first Hotel Indigo to the neighbourhood. The “City of Sails” will set the backdrop for this boutique upper-upscale hotel, drawing inspiration from local artists for its design, service, amenities, food and beverage. The 225-room hotel will be part of a mixed-use development in Auckland Central, with stunning views of the city and Auckland’s iconic harbour.

To help bring Hotel Indigo Auckland to life, we’re on the hunt for a Finance and Purchasing Assistant. This role will support the Manager of Finance and Business Support, playing a crucial role in supporting the team assisting with managing financial transactions, and concurrently handling purchasing duties for the hotel.

Ideally this role will start in August, subject to the completion of the hotel’s construction phases.

A little taste of your day-to-day

  • Being part of this pre-opening team will see you setting this beautiful new hotel up ready to receive its first guests

  • Assist in managing financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable plus setting up new suppliers and debtors in our systems

  • Work with our Finance and Business Support Manager to support IHG and owner group audits and preparing reporting requirements

  • Supporting internal control checks in compliance with our company policies

  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement, generating purchase orders for goods and services in accordance with company policies

  • Coordinate with departments to confirm procurement needs and specifications

  • Assist with monitoring and managing inventory levels to optimise stock levels and minimise waste

  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with relevant regulations and policies

What we need from you

  • You may be someone already familiar with the world of hotels, and wanting to grow into a financial role

  • Education and understanding in Accounting or Finance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Familiarity with financial software and tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, you’ll pride yourself in your interpersonal abilities

  • Must speak fluent English 

  • Full working rights within New Zealand with no restrictions
