IHG Assistant Front Office Manager | Hotel Indigo Auckland in New Zealand

Later this year, Auckland will welcome New Zealand’s first Hotel Indigo to the neighbourhood. The “City of Sails” will set the backdrop for this boutique upper-upscale hotel, drawing inspiration from local artists for its design, service, amenities, food and beverage. The 225-room hotel will be part of a mixed-use development in Auckland Central, with stunning views of the city and Auckland’s iconic harbour.

To help us bring the hotel to life, we’re on the lookout for a passionate Assistant Front Office Manager (pre-opening). This role will support the Front Office Manager to help establish the Front Office department and support all aspects of hotel operations on shift so enable delivery of a unique guest experience that brings the brand to life. The hotel team will work closely together, so you’ll be a team player and happy to support all areas of the hotel as needed.

Ideally this role will start in August, subject to the completion of the hotel’s construction phases, and will transition to an operational role once the hotel opens.

A little taste of your day-to-day

  • Being part of history! As part of this pre-opening team you will be part of setting this beautiful new hotel up ready to receive its first guests

  • Help and support the set up of the Front Office department with regards to operational requirements and team development

  • Once the hotel opens, transitioning to operational responsibilities where you will lead shifts within front office operations including:

  • Supporting the Front Office Manager to lead and oversee the Front Office Department

  • Act as Duty Manager on shift as required

  • Managing guest experiences, team performance and hotel operations

  • Prioritising workload and ensuring the team delivers authentic, memorable experiences

  • Driving results that positively impact on hotel performance

  • Having authentic conversations with guests to resolve issues, queries or concerns

  • Being the first point of contact for any critical emergency situations

What we need from you

  • At least 4 years of guest service/hotel experience, with 2 of those being with leadership capacity in a front office environment

  • Valid (or ability to acquire) NZ LCQ Duty Manager certificate, Liquor license, first aid certificate and full NZ drivers license

  • Strong understanding of hotel operations

  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge and experience with Hotel Property Management Systems

  • Full working rights within New Zealand with no restrictions
