About the Role:

The Team / The Business: The S&P Global Market Intelligence Finance team provides information, insights, and decision support to internal business partners to optimize financial performance, improve decision making and drive growth of the Market Intelligence business. The team regularly interacts with other divisions and corporate to support enterprise initiative and has a global footprint with team members based in Tri-State Area, Virginia, Colorado, Florida, London, and Manila.

The Impact: This position will ensure that all monthly Technology P&L reporting and analysis is delivered timely and accurately to facilitate decision making by the management. They will work with Finance and Business stakeholder to achieve further synergies between workstreams.

The Career Opportunity: This role will be a key member of the finance team supporting the S&P Global Market Intelligence Chief Technology Officer and the Technology leadership team, working closely with them on company-wide investment initiatives and supporting the financial planning and analysis of the function. In addition, this role will assist in process transformation leveraging existing technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with providing effective finance decision support to the S&P Global Market Intelligence Chief Technology Officer and Technology senior leadership team.

  • Support the monthly close process for the S&P Global Market Intelligence Technology function.

  • Analyze monthly compensation and non-compensation expense, headcount, and other critical performance measures; research drivers of performance and provide variance commentary of actuals versus budget, prior estimate, and prior year.

  • Prepare and provide monthly reporting packages to business partners to improve transparency and understanding of drivers of financial performance.

  • Develop monthly forecasts and annual operating budgets for P&L lines including, but not limited to compensation, T&E, training, outside services, software licensing, cloud services and deferred project costs.

  • Support the alignment of the S&P Global Market Intelligence Technology expense base to the new S&P Global Market Intelligence operating model.

  • Assist with preparation and review financial models, investment funding requests and business cases to support business priority execution.

  • Drive continuous process improvement with the goal of increasing efficiency and optimizing the distribution of work through automation, leveraging of centers of excellence and other solutions.

  • Work independently and as a fully contributing member of a multi-locational team with challenging, often conflicting deadlines.

  • Assist with preparation of materials for the Quarterly Financial Review, Quarterly Business Review and Board of Director deliverables as required.

  • Perform ad-hoc requests and special projects as assigned.

Other Accountabilities:

  • Provide thorough and accurate responses to senior management and business leads inquires.

  • Performs ad hoc analyses as requested to help management make informed decisions regarding the short- and long-term objectives of the business.

  • Alert management to reporting or operational problems and suggest actionable solutions.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,817 to $126,301.25. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in quantitative field (Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math or related field) is required. MBA and/or CPA with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP is preferred.

  • 5+ years’ work experience in Financial Analysis, Operations, and/or Accounting in a large, complex organization. Prior FinTech experience is preferred.

  • Experience in dashboard design (e.g. Power BI or Tableau) and ability to provide focused, thoughtful visual display of quantitative information.

  • Highly proficient skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V-Lookups, IF functions, etc.) and PowerPoint.

  • Proficiency with Oracle Financials or other similar financial systems. Anaplan and Oracle SmartView strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to tailor messaging to the intended audience and communicate complex concepts effectively.

  • Demonstrated investigative research and analytical capabilities necessary to provide the leadership team with the accurate and insightful interpretation of financial information.

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for resolving operational and financial problems.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability with an inquisitive mind.

  • Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team.
