Vectrus Water Distribution Lead in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Under the supervision of the Water Distribution Supervisor, the Water Distribution Lead is responsible for the planning, operations, management, distribution, and daily supervision of the potable and non-potable water distribution and storm drain collection systems activities on their assigned island. Works on water piping repair solutions exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Plans, organizes, directs and controls the potable and non-potable water piping distribution maintenance, repair, and new installation activities on the island.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, operations, management, distribution, and daily supervision of water piping distribution, maintenance, repair, and new installation activities on their assigned island.

  • Monitors preventive and corrective maintenance work orders from start to completion.

  • Works on water piping distribution, maintenance, repair, and new installation related solutions exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the potable and non-potable water production activities on the island.

  • Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance program in the water distribution systems piping, valves, fire hydrants, and backflow preventers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.

  • Licenses/Certifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or technical field preferred.

  • Valid Apprenticeship and experience in water distribution system piping repair techniques and ability to obtain a certification in testing backflow preventers.

  • Must be able to obtain an ABC Class 1 Water Distribution Certification/License within 12 months of hire date.

  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Experience:

  • Three (3) years related plumbing/pipefitting experience.

  • Minimum one (1) years supervisory experience in the management of personnel.

  • Experience with municipal Water Distribution systems required.

  • Experience with trenching and shoring is a plus.

  • Previous experience in a contingency environment is a plus.

  • Skills:

  • Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow.

  • Experience with Water Distribution systems composed of cast iron, steel, brass, PVC, vitrified clay, and FRP in sizes between ½ inch and 16 inches is required.

  • Ability to successfully plan maintenance projects from start to completion and meet deadlines

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.

  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
