Job Summary
As Navigation Algorithm Engineer, the main task will be develop navigation algorithms for strapdown Inertial Navigation Systems for different types of applications (space, aerospace, terrestrial, underground) and in several scenarios (with or without external aiding sensors), optimized for real-time use within the navigation software that is part of the Inertial Navigation System.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develop, manage and tune Navigation Algorithm (Free and Aided Integration)
Develop and use Inertial Sensors models, external aiding sensors models and Flight Generator
Perform simulation with both real and synthesized data
Perform feasibility studies in order to select/verify the inertial sensors to be used in relation to the required system requirements
Support for the flow-down of requirements from system level to inertial sensor level
Produce technical documentation
Optimization of the algorithms for real time execution in the target environment
Participation in the definition of new products to support the company technology roadmap and the strategic marketing
Contribute to the preparation of technical proposal and requirements compliance matrix for bid/Request For Proposal (RFP)
Qualification and Skills
Required Skills
University degree in Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or equivalent
Knowledge of avionics, navigation and related algorithms, control systems theory
Knowledge of strapdown inertial navigation systems
Proficient in Kalman filtering, initial alignment, aided navigation, sensor and dynamic error compensation
Experience in the design and analysis of extended Kalman filters and related algorithms
Knowledge of linear systems and estimation theory
Consolidated knowledge of MathWorks MATLAB/Simulink and C language
Great mathematical and analytical abilities
Ability to adopt the proper communication attitude to be effective depending on the audience and context
Knowledge of English language (at least intermediate level)
Experience simulating aerospace/terrestrial vehicles dynamics (trajectory generator)
Experience with GPS and inertial sensor modeling
Familiarity with requirements management tools (preferred IBM Rational DOORS)
