Vectrus DFAC Manager in Iraq

Overview

This position will be physically located in Iraq in support of LOGCAP.

Under the supervision of the Installation Services Manager & Sr. Food Service Manager, executes the policies and goals through the management of operations, food service personnel, and their work. Directs all work to meet the specific performance requirements and standards in the PWS. Provide direct supervision and management over Supervisors and food service staff. Organize and assign work activities and projects, manage internal food service programs, monitor workflow, and review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures. Assist to implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency and to establish and maintain controls. Implement and monitor work plans and achieve company/program goals and performance measures. Monitor performance against the facilities budget. Provide specialized information, analysis, interpretation or application of laws, rules, policies, procedures, or program requirements. Develop or recommend new rules, policies, or procedures to address emerging trends. Plan and manage food service operations, such as preparation, storage, inventory, supplies and equipment, and life/safety inspections. Prepare food service reports as required to account for materials used and costs involved and submit budget estimates as required. Monitor food items for acceptability, quality, and taste, including special meals. Ensure menus, nutritional, and portion control needs are met. Enforce uniform standards of sanitation and safety in food programs. Manages subcontractors with food preparation, food serving, cashier operations, cleanliness of the dining areas, serving lines, kitchens, temperature danger zones, dishwashing area and storage areas IAW with PWS and SOPs. Will be working and monitoring subsistence working with the AFMIS and STORES systems. Maintain all equipment accountability and serviceability and turn-in and ordering of stockage levels. Ensures that all employees are within the guidelines of established Safety Policies and Regulations. Directs and ensures that HACCP procedures are followed and maintain a strong quality customer service.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Oversees all food services operations under the general guidance of the Government Food Service Advisor.

  • Directs all work to meet the specific performance requirements and standards in the PWS.

  • Receives, stores, and issues CLASS I Operational Rations; conducting the 28-day menu and planning with the Government Food Service Advisor, Requisitioning and Acquisition of Subsistence from Prime Vendors, and using the System Total Ordering Ration Electronic Receipt system (STORES) and DSCP.

  • Stores all subsistence to ensure food items are sanitary and remain fresh before consumed; subsistence is not handled in any manner that exposes the food items to unsanitary conditions or environmental temperature and humidity conditions that could damage or spoil the subsistence; comply with Chapter 13 of FM 10-23-2, TB MED 530 and all US Department Health and Human Services Food Code standards, and keep records of all food received and stored as required, verifying proper handling and storage procedures are used.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Must provide a copy of the diploma

  • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in food management, or five (5) years of military food service experience in the grade of Army Warrant Officer or Sergeant First Class (or other military service equivalents)

  • Food Service Food Protection Managers Certification approved under ANSI-CFP accredited programs and/or approved under the Tri Service Food Code guidelines.

  • Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience at the unit manager or assistance manager level, of which three (3) years will have been in managing cafeteria-style or multi-entrĂ©e operations providing complete meal services (breakfast, lunch, and dinner.) Will provide current (within the past four (4) years) sanitation certificate and documentation of good past performance ratings via written evaluations by managers or facility owners.

  • Skills:

  • Self-motivated and have the ability to motivate others in physically challenging and a typical work environment·

  • Must read, write, and speak English fluently

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise DFAC Operation and DFAC Employees

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
