The opportunity

The customer is the focus of everything we do, and millions of end users rely on our products and services daily. The regional based In-Force Management function has been created to manage In-force book to both deliver on our customer value propositions and shareholder expectations. This role in the regional team will promote best practices across countries in Asia, ensure governance and transparency on in force earnings drivers and tradeoffs, and help identify and drive value-creating initiatives. On a project basis, the role also has opportunity to have the hands-on involvement to act as part of a local market team to plan and support initiatives.

This role will involve a combination of technical/financial/actuarial understanding, execution skill, and non-technical communication to ensure the function remains high on the business agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly & quarterly reporting process for Asia In-Force Management

  • Working with colleagues across markets to understand the underlying financial drivers of ongoing results, at a sufficiently granular level (e.g. product line, etc) to provide actionable direction to investigate

  • Persistency is a primary focus. Work with other functions (distribution, risk, operations, etc.) to understand and own action plans to address emerging experience

  • Deep diving as necessary to help markets with specific initiatives; including opportunities to act as additional resource to the local market team and support/lead where priority is needed

  • Working with regional and country-based analytics teams to develop/enhance appropriate tools to facilitate ongoing identification of opportunities as noted above

  • Create collaborative culture to share best practices and learnings with each market

  • Partner with Risk and Actuarial to ensure feedback loop of in force learnings to improve new business

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align in-force management strategies with overall business objectives

  • Support inorganic initiatives across the region to optimize capital and earnings remittances

What we are looking for

  • 5-10+ years of experience in financial management, actuarial, distribution or other relevant disciplines of an insurance business

  • Understanding of actuarial valuation, pricing, and sources of value, for insurance products is an asset

  • Knowledge/experience in data analytics is helpful

  • Self-starter and ability to work independently upon clarity of direction

  • Ability to work in and/or lead cross-functional teams, and explain complex concepts in layman’s terms

  • Continuous learner – ability to synthesize information from disparate sources to create a common agenda

  • Dealing with ambiguity – the flexibility to pivot and work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Thought leader and pro-active change agent - must be willing to challenge existing wisdom and/or the assertion that “everything is fine” in any given part of the business
