General Accountability

This role is accountable for holistic agency training and development with objective to create sustainable growth in agency and their development. The incumbent is responsible for creating a progressive training path, identifying and developing new learning development opportunities that align with the HK & Macau Agency strategic priorities. He/she has to build and lead a team of agency training professionals. Scope of trainings include but not limited to leadership skills, selling and negotiation techniques, customer-centric mindset, MCV-specific knowledge training, and other more specific agency training that cater to agency tiering and/or specific groups. The incumbent should also help to facilitate knowledge of company initiatives, help to enhance knowledge of agency to manage operational risks, as well as be key influencers to digital-related skills upgrade and tools adoption. The role will report to Chief Agency Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive training strategy for our agency force, including the design and delivery of training programs, workshops, and seminars. Facilitate and drive advisors in various stages of the sales process, build the capability of advisors to consistently deliver sustainable growth.

  • Lead the development and delivery of specialized training programs focused on need-based selling concepts, financial planning tools, cross-selling strategies, relationship building, and customer-centric approaches, digital-related tools and mindsets tailored to the evolving needs of the market and regulatory landscape.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify agency training needs and tailor programs to address specific business objectives and performance goals, including items that can enhance operational efficiency. Build and maintain strong relationships with agency leaders to understand their training needs and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Lead a team of training professionals to create engaging and effective training materials and resources. Provide talent development opportunities through clear progressive structure.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Champion the use of innovative training methodologies, identify and develop new learning development opportunities to support the Agency strategic priorities.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in training and development to continuously enhance our agency training programs, including digital and interactive training modules, to support the continuous growth and upskilling of the agency force.

  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of training curriculum and tools, gather feedback from the field, and make iterative improvements to ensure relevance, impact, and adoption within the agency force.

  • Lead the team to participate in external financial planning awards, and leverage on these to reinforce the image of Manulife as a leading financial service institution.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the agency training team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:

  • University Degree in a relevant discipline

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience in agency training area in insurance industry

  • Professional knowledge in agency training with strong sales management capability

  • Strong knowledge in life, protection and health products

  • Experience in managing Agency distribution channel a definite advantage

  • Effective presentation and training skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills at managing internal superiors, peers and team as well as managing external relationship

  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Flexible and with strategic thinking

  • Business acumen and client oriented
