Oracle Cloud Database Technologist in United Kingdom

Job Description

Oracle Cloud is hiring! We are looking for database professions with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems to join our development team in Europe.

As a member of a product management team, you will assist in defining and developing software tools for use by Oracle staff, partners and customers. You will specify, design and implement changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

The role will also engage with a customers on a technical level to support customers in discovering and assessing their database estates. It will require strong hands-on skills in shell and Oracle database. A general understanding of building and managing large Oracle database estates is also highly desirable. The target cloud platforms for this role are OCI and Azure, Google and AWS with a special focus on our strategic database platform, Autonomous Database.

Duties and tasks are varied and ill require independent judgment. You will be fully competent in your own area of expertise. A BS or MS degree or equivalent experience in your area of expertise is highly desirable and at least 6 years of software engineering or related experience together with a broad knowledge of solution architecture.

This small multi-disciplinary team will be involved in all parts of the development life-cycle from initial requirements to final testing. The team is developing a new set of tools and services to support customer migration to OCI, using low-code (Oracle APEX) supplemented by SQL, PL/SQL, Javascript and Linux shell scripting. We are growing fast and working on ambitious new initiatives. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact.

As a member of our dev team, you will build major new features in our products, and support existing products. You will help improve your team's engineering practices, operational excellence, development process, and take overall ownership of your part of the larger product or service.

The role will also engage directly with customers when customers are using Estate Explorer to support customers in ADB best practice, recommended migration approaches and to help the customers remove any technical barriers or challenges encountered during initial migrations.

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or another relevant quantitative field

  • 6+ years of experience in Development

  • Some exposure to complex system design

  • Essential: Oracle APEX, PL/SQL, HTML+CSS

  • Desirable: Python, Javascript

  • Experience in creating solutions in IaaS environments, preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

  • Strong drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques

  • Team player with great communication and presentation skills
