Role Overview

The Senior iOS Automation Engineer will have a unique opportunity to design and develop mobile applications for the company’s line of spoken products. To be successful in this role the Employee must have the desire and ability to perform iOS testing using XCTest framework, specifically XCUI Test APIs, automation scripts via Fastlane, and a deep understanding and knowledge of Continuous integration systems.

The Employee will report to the Engineering Manager of the iOS team.

High Level Responsibilities

  • Maintain, evolve and optimize the continuous integration pipelines for mobile apps across iOS platforms.

  • Build and improve knowledge of new tools, frameworks, and domain-specific principles daily.

  • Design, implement, and optimize test automation frameworks that align with industry best practices and adapt to evolving technologies. Educate the team on using new frameworks that facilitate the usage of automated testing for the iOS mobile apps.

  • Scale the iOS team processes; improve release pipeline, build automation and monitoring.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, and quality assurance engineers to identify test requirements and ensure a pragmatic approach to testing. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Participates in project meetings to ensure the smooth running of the project.

  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and stability issues in iOS applications.

  • Create & execute automation test strategy for mobile apps across iOS platforms.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for test scripts, frameworks, and processes. Analyse automated testing results and prepare reports, checklists and recommendations for applications improvement.

  • Develop test strategies, test plans, and test cases to support comprehensive testing of iOS applications. This includes UI tests with mocked Network, Screenshot testing, E2E testing etc.

  • Help scale the iOS team processes; improve release pipeline, build automation and monitoring together with senior team members.

  • Demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of continuous integration.

  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

  • Participate in peer code-reviews to spot problems and ensure quality of the product.

  • Duly observe all applicable health and safety laws and regulations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in iOS development, automation and testing with a proven track record of building successful mobile apps.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, integration of automated tests, and setting up and managing cloud device farms for running the automated test suite.

  • A person who can recall & apply proven testing principles.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Objective C and Swift.

  • Familiarity with iOS app development and debugging tools.

  • Experience with performance and memory tuning with tools.

  • Robust decision making - based on evidence and data.

  • Operates as a self-aware, effective team player.

  • Experience of working and thriving in a global matrix organization is a plus.

  • Evident fluency in English, being confident in speaking, reading and writing communication.
