Job Summary and Description:
Key Responsibilities:
System Design and Analysis:
Develop and model power system components (generation, transmission).
Conduct load flow, stability studies, and transmission planning assessments
Renewable Energy Integration:
Analyze the impact of renewable energy sources (e.g., wind, solar) on grid performance.
Understand impacts of inverter based devices
Grid Code Compliance:
Ensure designs meet European grid codes and standards (e.g., ENTSO-E).
Conduct compliance testing and reporting for grid-connected systems.
Software and Tools:
Use advanced tools such as PSSE, PowerFactory, and PSLF
Develop custom tools for analyzing power systems and automating workflows using Python or other scripting languages.
Collaboration and Reporting:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including regulators, utilities, and project developers.
Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required. Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Ph.D. preferred for senior roles.
Experience: 3+ years in power system design, operation, or research.
Skills:
Strong understanding of power system modeling, dynamics, and protection.
Familiarity with European energy markets and regulatory frameworks.
Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., PSSE, PowerFactory).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience:
Background in transmission planning
Utility experience for practical assessments of bulk power systems
Coding proficiency to automate planning processes

Has developed relationships with primary advisors to a research area.
Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
Communicates strategies and results, written and verbal, to program members, potential members and external stakeholders through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
Continues to communicate work across EPRI programs to make sure parallel work is informed.
May provide oversight of a project team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
Organizes the external and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
Supports the planning and execution of complex project work within the technical department to meet member/client objectives; prepares and presents research reports.
Manages small or medium (less complex) projects including budgets and resources.
Begin interfacing with national and international technical networks (e.g, manufacturers, consultants, academia and research organizations).
Supports proposal efforts and new promotional work.
Develops research or services opportunities of value to EPRI members that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities. This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply.
Continues to provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
