McDermott Senior Production Engineer in Angola

Job Overview:

Responsible for assisting Fabrication Package Manager of onshore construction at 3rd party fabricator. Ensure maintenance and storage within required conditions of FAT equipment/materials. Ensure that testing/measurement materials are always calibrated and certified and perform calibration whenever required.

The Senior Production Engineer is responsible to propose new investments in relation with FAT and future level of Yard activity, act as a liaison between the fabricator and McDermott engineering team to resolve FAT site queries, assist in resolving site conflicts in consultation with Fabrication manager, review FAT procedures and deliverables, and report back to Fabrication Manager and Operations Manager in London, as well as the client as required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and implement the FAT activities in close coordination with the Yard Fabrication Superintendent/Project Management Team

  • Put in place operations procedure and assure implementation by FAT supervisor and team and get assurance that involved people comply with QHSES rules and that equipment/materials are used/maintained as per QHSES Rules

  • Participate in Risk Assessments sessions, ensuring that operations are done under PTW conditions.

  • Organize, provide support and follow-up testing activities to FAT supervision and people

  • Coordinate with production to enable preparation/sequence to match with the required scope and planning

  • Be familiar with the fabrication schedule and monitor the progress by the 3rd party fabricator

  • Adhere to McDermott Safety Standards and promote safety culture among the site team

  • Monitor QHSES performance of the 3rd party fabricator and report statistics back to Fabrication Manager, Operations Manager and PMT in London, as well as the client as required

  • Ensure that any changes to the specifications, work scope, drawings are documented correctly and MOC’s/DCN’s/SQ’s etc are raised by the fabrication yard team for McDermott approval

  • Coordinate the interface between 3rd party fabricator and McDermott Marine Team, as well as safety and quality departments

  • Revise and update necessary FAT procedures for the projects

  • State of optimized tests set up within procedures

  • Compile and record testing conditions and testing results to enable Client’s approval and acceptance to be incorporated in QC files and the completions system

  • Set up operating FAT procedure to guide the operators and give a frame to both standard and specific operations

  • Review material expediting reports and advise procurement personnel of any concerns and mitigation plans as necessary

  • Implementation of lessons learned from previous projects

  • Attend regular internal and external (fab yard, client, etc) meetings as required.

  • Comply with McDermott code of business conduct, including ethics and compliance.

  • Knowledge in pumps/hydro techniques

  • Knowledge and experience in the testing fitting/accessories is a plus

  • Good communication and coordination between yard disciplines

  • The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision

  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Engineering Bachelor certificate

  • Minimum 6 years onsite fabrication yard experience, minimum of 2 projects supervising FAT of offshore structures and spools
