Zero Point, Inc Staff Accountant III in Virginia Beach, Virginia

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

The Staff Accountant III reports to the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration in the performance of a variety of tasks, and is primarily responsible for managing daily financial transactions and tasks related to all facets of the Operation while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the ERP and other company systems consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards (GAS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and corporate ethics, goals, and objectives. A proficient level of accounting, business experience and judgment are required to plan and accomplish goals. Responsibilities are expected to be completed accurately, on a timely basis, with minimal supervision.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with preparation of financial statements.

  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

  • Maintains and balances general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.

  • Serves as backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll.

  • Researches, collects, and analyzes financial data for submission of required reporting.

  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records.

  • Prepares 1099 tax reporting forms.

  • Prepares annual Personal Property and Business License filings.

  • Assists with tax returns and audits.

  • Establishes and reviews accounting policies and procedures and recommends modifications.

  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

  • Experience with Accounts Payable, Customer Invoicing and Payroll required.

  • Positive attitude and customer service mindset with a strong work ethic.

  • Strong communication and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

  • Self-starter who can work independently and execute projects efficiently.

  • Able to work hands on within the various departments of the organization and communicate effectively up the chain of command.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Must be able to set priorities and demonstrate sound judgement in handling problems.

  • Must be extremely well organized and demonstrate exceptional financial and time management skills.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and other professionals.
