SOLUTE Careers 1369 - Naval Fires Training Support Lead in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Sigma Defense is seeking a Naval fires training subject matter expert (SME) and analyst to serve as the Naval Fires Training Support Lead at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic (EWTGL) in Virginia Beach, VA. The individual in this role will provide (Integrated Maritime Portable Acoustic Scoring Systems (IMPASS) support as the team leader along with multiple other requirements.

The ideal candidate is a former Navy Fire Controlman or Operational Specialist with at least five years’ experience on Naval firing/scoring systems or equivalent systems. He/she will also have five years’ experience as senior trainer/evaluator. Additionally, a candidate with at three or more years' experience on a Strike Group (SG) or Numbered Fleet Commander (NFC) staff (or equivalent DoD staff as lead on Naval Firing/ Scoring systems) is highly desirable.

This is a contingent position that is pending award of contract. This means that the position is subject to the successful awarding of a contract and will be confirmed once the contract is finalized. The candidate selected for this role will be offered the position on the condition that the contract is awarded to our organization.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience on Naval firing/scoring systems or equivalent systems.

  • 5 years of experience at the senior trainer/evaluator.

  • 3 years of experience on an SG or NFC staff or equivalent DoD staff as lead on Naval Firing/Scoring systems.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the following:

  • Subject matter expert for respective task requirements (e.g. Academics, Warfare Area(s), Program or Policy support).

  • Training manager.

  • Developing training curriculums.

  • Conducting fleet/ joint training assessments to identify gaps, training needs and solutions.

  • Delivering training in person and/or online.

  • Developing and modifying training event/exercise scenarios.

  • Managing training projects.

  • Team and/or project leader.

  • Designing custom training to meet training objectives.

  • Public speaker and presentation skills.

  • Engaging Senior Staff at the Flag Officer/Director/Manager level.

  • Handling multiple priorities and interruptions with minimal impact on productivity/deliverables.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active, DoD issued Secret security clearance or higher.

  • A clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.

  • Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree is 2 additional years of Resource Band experience.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

Support Tasks:

  • (a) Provide IMPASS support as team leader / safety observer, buoy deployers / spotters and IMPASS control unit operators.

  • (b) Provide IMPASS deployment training for unit and SG-level naval fires training program as required in support of FRTP pre-certification and sustainment training.

  • (c) Provide system performance feedback to applicable engineering and maintenance commands to ensure long-term viability of the system.

  • (d) Support naval surface fires training requirements in live and synthetic exercises and events.

  • (e) Support Navy fires training to units (classroom and virtual) using the 20E18B and Shipboard Embedded Trainer for synthetic Naval Fires Training.

  • (f) Provide academic training and education in person as well as SME COI for Naval Surface Fires Support (NSFS) MTTs.

  • (g) Assist in maintaining, updating and standardizing the instructor certification program and ensuring instructor knowledge and presentation skills maintain current credentials. The Government shall be the final approving authority for the instructor certification program.

  • (h) Develop, maintain and distribute instructional material supported by outlines, lesson plans, reference material, briefs, lectures, videos, scenarios, animations, handouts, student and instructor workbooks and study guides, testing materials, critiques and feedback.

  • (i) Provide support for curriculum review, development, and implementation for academics of warfare training requirements for NSFS.

  • (j) Provide detailed post-mission reports and scoring information.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 annually.
