Reliance Medical Transport Call Taker in Virginia Beach, Virginia
Reliance Medical Transport is seeking a qualified Call Taker. The Call Taker reports directly to the Operations Chief in conjunction with Dispatchers. The Call Taker is responsible for call intake/scheduling of emergency & non-emergency transportation needs for ambulance & wheelchair bound patients, answering general questions, directing callers to appropriate departments and assisting field personnel. This is a full-time, Monday - Friday position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer, screen, and direct calls
Distinguish the need for emergency transportation
Pre-arrange transport for facilities while determining the level of care needed for the patients
Provide information and assistance for customer service inquires as needed
Communicate with multiple departments and EMS personnel
Provide supportive information to customers to assist them in arranging appropriate transport
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication and customer service skills
Pleasant, professional phone manner
Must have ability to multitask
Detail oriented
Computer & typing skills
Ability to excel in high-stress environment
Adapt to frequently changing policies
Ability to learn policies and procedures for facilities and recognizing when to apply them.
Medical background a plus
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required
1 year of customer service experience is preferred
Job-specific training required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must have a clean background and ability to pass a drug screen
Work Environment
Working hours will be spent in the dispatch office, receiving and directing calls
The majority of time will be spent sitting at a computer and/or radio dispatch unit
Environment can be highly stressful and fast-paced
Shifts vary from day to night
