Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $15.00 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Location:

This position is located in INDOT's Vincennes District Facilities.

A Day in the Life:

  • Complies with INDOT Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Moves and loads supplies and materials, including usage of tire disposal machine.

  • Winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.

  • Performs equipment maintenance such as: minor repairs, preventative maintenance, filling, and preventative maintenance inspections.

  • Performs miscellaneous labor tasks.

  • Assists in ensuring that the facilities and grounds are in a constant state of survey readiness from a maintenance perspective.

  • Initiates repair parts order request and recommends items for inventory stock and monitors’ use.

  • Assists in repairs to various facilities motors, panels, transformers, lighting systems, brine makers, lift stations, concrete patching/repairing, etc.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and to complete records and reports.

  • Must have ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.

  • Ability to follow directions and work as a part of a team.

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time.

  • Ability to carrying out basic functions on the computer.

  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
