WATTS Sustainability Engineer - we have a very exciting position open in Vildbjerg, Denmark

Do you want to make a difference as our new Sustainability Engineer for Europe?

We are looking for a person who is motivated by working independently while travelling among our business sites in Europe.

The position can be based at one of our sites in either of the following locations: Denmark (Vildbjerg by Herning area), Germany (Landau area) and Italy (Biassono area). While not travelling you will work from one of these sites.

Besides leading sustainability initiatives in Europe, you will also be a member of a corporate sustainability team supporting global initiatives and execute different exciting projects. You will in this role report to our Manager of Global Sustainability Programs who is based in the US.

The variety of the work is wide and range from collecting and analyzing data to communicating results, engaging with our population and deploying Watts strategies.

Responsibilities and duties

Our Sustainability Engineer position is an independent role where you will work together with our Leadership Teams across our European sites to help our business leaders identify opportunities to reduce water, greenhouse gas emission and waste.

  • Build a coalition across production-s sites to have a greater impact on the environment

  • Support European sites to define and execute their sustainability goals

  • Audit and assess sustainability maturity across production sites in Europe

  • Management and promotion of various sustainability activities/ projects in the areas of energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, corporate responsibility & employee engagement

  • Host and execute Energy Hunts across Europe

  • Support the production of the yearly sustainability report

  • Support the business’ need to respond to customer and other stakeholder audits as necessary

  • Collect and analyze key sustainability data across sites

Experience and qualifications

We expect that you have a relevant educational background, preferably in S ustainability/Environmental/Energy Engineering or similar education (minimum bachelor level) and 7-10 years of work experience in a production environment including several years of experience within energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, corporate responsibility, and employee engagement.

Besides, the following qualifications characterize you:

  • Experience with Facilities, Logistics, & Supply Chain Sustainability required

  • Demonstrated Program Management skills

  • Strong planning, coordination and time management skills

  • Prior experience with business travelling

  • Excellent English (verbal and written) communication and presentation skills as this role is required to “message” Sustainability throughout the organization: Verbally – town halls and smaller venues, written – internal news articles and presentation materials, supporting web and internet content

  • Able to work independently with little supervision

  • Able to effectively participate in and facilitate team meetings

  • Find your way through ambiguity

Other requirements

The ability to travel globally without restrictions is required in this position.

Up to 50 % of your worktime will be travelling and working in other countries than the country you live in.

If you are not travelling, you will work from the production site close to where you live. At least three days at the production site, with the possibility of 2 days working from home, depending on local legislation within this area.
