Summary In this position you will function as the Transportation Assistant within the Health Administration Service (HAS) of the Orlando VA Medical Center (OVMAC) in Orlando, FL. The physical location of this position is in Viera, FL. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Duties: Determine the method of payment for authorized and unauthorized ambulance claims submitted. Investigate authorizations, orders and/or utilizes the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) to review medical records. Ensure that the appropriate fund control is used and referenced when processing requests. Explain regulatory guidelines to beneficiaries. Maintain and control filing systems in accordance with VA regulations. Arrange all modes of transportation via- air ambulance, commercial air, taxi, ambulance, bus, etc. Secure reservations and tickets from carriers. Reconcile vouchers and reviews requests for reimbursement for travel costs. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of a Transportation Assistant. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service. Specialized experience include Determines eligibility and entitlement of all applicants using various methods, systems, and programs, arranging all modes of transportation via; air ambulance, commercial air, ambulance, bus, train, etc., explaining and updating transportation policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOP), formatting letters, reports, memorandum, transmitting and receiving data, follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding accesses to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., applying transportation regulations and practices to perform a wide variety of administrative support; coordinating travel arrangements; maintaining records, utilizing databases. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Possess successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e. beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
