Navy Federal Credit Union Intern - Year Round (Investor Reporting Analyst) in Vienna, Virginia

Overview

Investor reporting services the mortgage loans sold portfolio to investors through the performance of three critical functions: (1) remittance, (2) reporting and (3) reconciliation as mandated by Government Sponsored Entities (GSE), Ginnie Mae (GNMA), Freddie Mac (FHLMC) and Fannie Mae (FNMA)) and Private Investors’ guidelines.

The Year Round Intern will perform daily/monthly tasks related to the three critical functions while developing data analysis and critical-thinking skills and learn/assist with basic functions of investor reporting such as preparing daily/monthly reporting, remittance, and reconciliations, performing discrepancy analysis, processing transactions in Mortgage Servicing Platform (MSP) director 7 applications, working with our vendor, Black Knight and various GSE representatives, and participating process improvement/automation projects in the pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support

  • Perform monthly custodial bank accounts, general ledger and principal and interest (P&I) reconciliations and identify and resolve discrepancies

  • Prepare analysis and adjustment to investor cash balances

  • Set up headers for investor sales and perform investor sales related functions and reconciliations

  • Perform various monthly reporting and remittance tasks related to loan and pool adjustments

  • Perform research and analysis including quantitative and/or qualitative analysis

  • Participate in Black Knight’s enhancements for MSP or investors’ initiatives

  • Assist with internal or external audit requests

  • Assist with procedure revamp and update initiatives

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college/university

• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

• Effective research, analytical, and problem solving skills

• Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines

• Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment to make sound decisions

• Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills

• Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
