Navy Federal Credit Union Instructional Designer II in Vienna, Virginia
Overview
To plan and manage instructional design projects and initiatives within the business unit and/or across the organization. Develop instructional courses tailored to meet the desired learning outcomes and needs of Navy Federal and the learners. Collaborate to implement strategies for educating and training employees to achieve higher levels of performance. Utilize a variety of techniques to define and sequence instructional content and strategies. Create curricula by quickly and efficiently learning/processing large volumes of information and by conducting research on subject matter. Remain supportive of business unit/organizational training needs and refresh the training and materials as needed throughout its lifecycle. Work independently under general supervision.
Responsibilities
Advise and assist trainers on course evaluation results
Collaborate with others to plan and design courses and curricula; ensure accuracy of content and test multimedia elements
Conduct needs assessment on request from business unit management to provide customized training or individual guidance to improve and develop performance
Create and edit new LMS learning activities; set up required training assignments in LMS; create custom LMS reports
Create dynamic instructional and training materials using current technologies including references and support tools that reinforce training, increase efficiency and help produce error-free work
Design and use quantitative and qualitative methods and metrics to determine if knowledge transferred effectively and/or the desired behavior change occurred after training
Develop and test course content, training games, graphic designs and other technology driven products
Develop classroom, on-line and/or independent learning program content that transfers knowledge effectively and brings about desired behavior change
Develop instructional strategies and courses for a business unit and/or cross-company products and skills
Evaluate the effectiveness of courses, learning products and delivery methods to ensure that the desired learning objectives and goals are achieved
Involved in instructional design project teams with multiple deliverables, significant risk and complexity
Measure return on training investments by evaluating programs/materials to ensure that the desired learning objectives and goals are achieved
Provide information about new or advanced instructional theories and tools to other designers and/or trainers
Select most effective instructional approach including a blend of instructor-led and/or self-directed techniques
Select, modify, or establish a design and development model appropriate for a given project; analyze learning needs to assist in establishing learning objectives
Serves as change management lead for business unit; apply change management principles and knowledge to develop strategies including organizational assessments, stakeholder analysis and change roadmaps and plans
Train internal team members on effective use of classroom materials including ILT and VILT and environments
Validate and integrate feedback, assessments and course evaluations into current and new training course content and/or delivery vehicle
Conduct presentations for various groups including executive leadership
Develop and implement change management solutions
Lead, guide and mentor less experienced staff
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Ability to adapt to fluctuating work-flow
Ability to compile, organize and present information clearly and concisely
Experience in working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects
Significant experience in evaluating the effectiveness of courses and learning products and delivery methods
Significant experience in researching/writing course content and/or developing courses, demonstrations, graphic designs and other technology driven products
Advanced knowledge of instructional design to develop courses for products, processes and/or skills
Expert knowledge of instructional theories, educational psychology, educational theory, tools and resources
Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
Advanced research, analytical, and problem solving skills
Advanced skill capturing and translating processes and requirements into easily understood terms
Advanced skill in assessing departmental/branch training needs and researching topics for course development
Advanced skill in building strategic and execution-focused plans and alliances with partner leadership
Advanced skill interacting tactfully and effectively in difficult situations
Advanced skill to successfully influence, lead and/or guide others towards goals
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Effective database and presentation software skills
Effective skill collaborating with various external and internal technical and/or functional contacts
Effective skill communicating with all levels within an organization
Effective skill guiding and training less experienced staff
Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
Bachelor's Degree in Education, business, communication, behavioral sciences, training development or related field or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
Desired Qualifications
Significant experience in multi-media training
Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM EST
